Virus Racing League 2010 (VRL)

Virus Racing announces the VRL (Virus Racing League). This racing league will be based at the local tracks in the West Michigan area. Our current goal is to run a 5 race electric racing league.

We have a great racer base in West Michigan and we feel the time is right to create a league in this area. With the economy the way it is, none of us can afford to do everything we want to do. Long road trips with hotel stays have become to costly for many people. Add in the long days, 2 hours travel each way, 12 - 14 hours racing and your spending many hours away from home. For these very reasons, we wanted to create a racing league that will host races close to Grand Rapids Michigan, and run those races in a proficient manner that will get us all home and in bed at a respectable hour.

We believe we have a large enough group of local racers to not only support these leagues, but also be competitive enough to draw in racers from other nearby states to race with us. We look forward to a great 2010 season and hope you will join us in our new endeavourers.

Rules for VRL

VRL is being created by racers for racers. It is for that reason we would like to present you with our rules listing.

Rules for VRL:

▪ Entry Fee: $20 for the first class, $10 each additional class
▪ No factory chassis sponsored drivers in Stock classes
▪ Must have a minimum of 8 vehicles per class to race
▪ Points system qualifying
▪ Live loop starts (no IFMAR starts)
▪ 2 minutes or less between heats. Once all vehicles are checked in, the loop goes live in 10 seconds
▪ Racers have 30 seconds from loop going live to start their race or they are given a DNS for that race, VRL is about creating an atmosphere of higher standards and respect for other racers
▪ 3 rounds of qualifying at all races, unless there are more than 121 entries. If we exceed 121 entries, we will be forced to run just two qualifying rounds
▪ We will run 10 RC in each heat, and in the mains we will allow 2 bump ups per heat making the mains have a total of 12 RC in them. It is up to the racer if they would like to take the bump up. If they do not accept the bump up, it will NOT be offered to the next racer, it is lost.
▪ Each racer is expected to marshal. If you can not marshal or you do not want to marshal, you must find a replacement marshal or you can pay a $5 fee per class and VRL will provide a marshal to substitute for you if there is anyone available and willing to help out
▪ If you are not in your marshal position, at officials discretion you’ll receive: a warning, a DNS for your next race, or ejection from the event. VRL is about creating an atmosphere of higher standards and respect for other racers
▪ AMB scoring personal transponders allowed, house transponders available
▪ Any race protests / problems must be brought to the officials attention and resolved at the race
▪ We would like to keep the relaxed atmosphere at the VRL and do not want to have to hire a tech person or issue "handout" motors as it would force us to raise entry fees and add costs
▪ All of the VRL rules are subject to change without notice and are at the sole discretion of the event officials. Additionally, we do not want to make this series heavy with rules, the intent of the series is to have fun and be competitive. So please do your part and don't stretch the rules
▪ Tracks will open at 7:00am and racing will begin at 9:00am
▪ At the conclusion of each event, awards will be handed out to 1st - 3rd place in each class. At the end of the season, 1st - 10th place in each class will be awarded trophies.
